Graduating class of 2011: A record number of new members
Montreal, November 2, 2011 – The Ordre des comptables généraux accrédités du Québec (CGA-Quebec) is pleased to present its graduating class of 2011, which includes 423 new CGAs. This is the largest graduating class in the past 20 years and brings the total number of CGAs in Quebec to 8,700.
Many new CGAs from around the province were presented with their professional practice permits by Stephan Robitaille, FCGA, CFA, MBA, chair of CGA-Quebec’s Board of Directors, and Paulette Legault, CGA, president, CEO and secretary of CGA-Quebec, at a ceremony held in Gatineau on October 29.
“The presence of such a large graduating class is a shining illustration of the vitality of our profession. Amid ongoing efforts to unify the accounting orders in Quebec, this vitality bodes very well for the future and constitutes a key success factor in light of the challenges that lie ahead,” said Mr. Robitaille.
“The professional training that these new CGAs have received has provided them with a set of skills, competencies and professional values that underlie their status as high-level accounting professionals. Their high level of competence is the result of CGA-Quebec’s efforts and forms one of the central aspects of our mission, which is to protect the public,” said Ms. Legault.
