The Disciplinary Committee: judging the rectitude of CGA members

The task of the committee is to receive formal complaints filed against a CGA professional for a violation of the provisions of the Professional Code or the Ordre’s regulations.

Moreover, it hears the arguments of the parties involved, makes decisions and imposes one or more of the penalties provided in section 156 of the Professional Code and recommend disciplinary measures to the Board of Directors, where appropriate.

Composition of the Disciplinary Committee

The Discipline Committee is formed by at least three members, including a Chair. The Chair is chosen by the government, after consulting the Barreau du Québec, from lawyers who have practiced at least 10 years. The government determines the term of the Chair. At least two other members from the Ordre’s membership are appointed by the Board of Directors of the Ordre.
