Mandatory continuing education: a guarantee of competence

Given the rapid and on-going changes in the knowledge required for the practice of professional activities by certified general accountants, mandatory continuing education is essential for CGAs.  Maintaining their competencies and updating their knowledge contributes directly to protecting the public.

Given the importance of continuing education for CGAs, the Ordre has established a regulation making it mandatory. The Règlement sur la formation continue obligatoire des comptables généraux accrédités du Québec stipulates that all members must accumulate a minimum of 60 hours of training in a reference period of three years.
