Competency exam exemption request

You may be exempted from taking the taxation (TX2) and auditing (MU1 or AU2) technical competency exams if you have successfully completed ALL CGA-Canada course prerequisites in your program of studies.

No exam exemptions will be granted if the prerequisites were completed more than 5 years previously. Any request for exemption from an exam that depends on passing exam prerequisites will be subject to a detailed analysis to ensure that the content and timeliness of the courses passed reflect the national education program curriculum.

Exemption criteria

In order to obtain an exemption, you must be in good standing with the Ordre, which means that:

  • you must have paid your annual dues;
  • you must comply with the Ordre’s policies and regulations;
  • you have to complete and submit the exemption request form, together with the required information, documents and payment;
  • you must provide proof of successful completion of the course prerequisites by the prescribed deadline.

Please note

    • Should you want to obtain the public accountancy permit one day, if you are granted an AU2 exam exemption, you will have to write and pass this exam just the same.
